Undead In Blue™

Readers who've been with me for a while are going to find Undead In Blue a real departure for me. I've been writing a lot of zombie stories lately, all straight-genre, which readers have seen from me before. Several of those zombie stories are going to be included in Undead Embrace (co-authored with Terri Pray and AE Martineau), to be released in December from Under The Moon.

But, Undead In Blue Collection shows a side of my writing I usually rein in. Basically, Undead Underway (the first story) sprang out of a call for an anthology (LOSING AN EYE) that Jeff Strand and John McIlveen were trying to put together. Being a Navy wife for 13+ years, I was well acquainted with the Nuke submariner version of the saying, so I wrote a novelette about vampires on a US Navy submarine (too long for LOSE AN EYE, but it found a home with UTM), letting the rather abrasive characters act as the submariners I've known and sometimes loved do. What resulted was a riotous and sometimes humorous look at a group of submariners fighting off a vampire apocalypse.

I'm already hard at work on Undead Ashore, the second story in this collection, and I hope there are many more to come.
